Truva

Truva is a 276 × 195 × 15 mm hourglass-pattern marquetry parquet panel in brushed or smooth walnut, black metallic oak and brushed natural oak.

Truva pattern details

Truva is available in 4 colour variants. Pattern development, wood selection, precision cutting and surface finishing are carried out in our Istanbul workshop.

Available panel dimensions: 195 × 276 × 15 mm

An hourglass repeat formed by opposing wood elements

Truva uses opposing tapered forms to create an hourglass motif. Within each 276 × 195 mm panel, the narrow central connection and wider outer edges establish a repeated expansion-and-contraction rhythm. Once the panels join, the eye can follow either the hourglass units or the secondary shapes between them. The total panel thickness is 15 mm.

This dual reading is what separates Truva from a simple diamond or chevron layout. The motif is made from cut wood elements assembled as marquetry, not printed onto the surface. Grain direction inside those elements contributes to the geometry, particularly in brushed treatments where light reveals the fibre more clearly.

Four treatments from quiet walnut to graphic black oak

Brushed Walnut makes the repeat tactile and introduces variation inside the darker field. Smooth Walnut gives the same species a more even and formal appearance. Black Metallic Oak creates the most graphic version, strongly separating the hourglass outline from its surroundings. Brushed Natural Oak lightens the composition and allows grain texture to carry more of the visual detail.

The choice affects which layer of the pattern is noticed first. High contrast makes the individual hourglass explicit; lower contrast lets the secondary geometry emerge gradually. Review the treatment against the room’s fixed timber, metal and stone finishes rather than selecting from colour names alone.

Defining the Truva repeat on a floor plan

Send a dimensioned plan with the selected treatment, principal viewing direction and any border or material transition. These inputs help assess the position of the repeat and the cuts at the perimeter. Akarsu Parquetry can evaluate project-specific dimensions, pattern requirements and wood combinations before establishing the production and quotation scope.
