Milet

Milet is a 450 × 290 × 15 mm marquetry parquet panel with an interlocking knot motif in smooth walnut, metallic oak or brushed natural oak.

Milet pattern details

Milet is available in 3 colour variants. Pattern development, wood selection, precision cutting and surface finishing are carried out in our Istanbul workshop.

Available panel dimensions: 290 × 450 × 15 mm

An interlocking parquet pattern that changes with viewing direction

Milet uses a linked knot motif to create a floor with no single dominant line. Each 450 × 290 mm panel joins the next through angled and crossing elements, so the composition can appear compact from one direction and more open from another. This makes Milet distinct from herringbone, chevron and other linear parquet layouts. The panel has a total thickness of 15 mm.

The geometry is produced through marquetry rather than by arranging standard planks on site. Its individual wood pieces are cut as parts of the motif, assembled into a repeatable panel and continued across the floor through a planned layout. The result is a recognisable knot structure without reducing the surface to a simple printed ornament.

How the three Milet treatments affect the pattern

Smooth Walnut gives the crossing lines a warm, relatively even background and a composed finish. Metallic Oak makes the geometry more pronounced through its darker, reflective treatment. Brushed Natural Oak keeps the palette lighter while the textured grain adds movement inside each segment. Because grain direction is visible within the knot, surface treatment changes more than colour alone: it also changes how strongly each part of the repeat catches the eye.

Selection should therefore consider daylight, nearby timber finishes and the desired visual weight of the floor. A darker treatment can make Milet a defining architectural layer; natural oak can integrate it more quietly with a restrained material palette.

Information needed to plan a Milet floor

A dimensioned plan is needed to assess the starting axis, perimeter cuts, thresholds and any border conditions. Include the chosen Milet treatment and identify fixed elements that affect the visible centre of the repeat. Akarsu Parquetry can then evaluate project-specific dimensions, wood combinations and pattern requirements and define the relevant production and quotation scope.
