What does a panel dimension control in the floor plan?

A marquetry parquet panel dimension controls more than the number of units required. It establishes the pattern repeat, affects where a motif lands at entrances and thresholds, and reveals where full panels give way to perimeter conditions. The correct planning question is therefore not “which panel suits a large room?” but “how does this exact repeat align with the architectural priorities of this room?”

Akarsu Parquetry panels have a verified overall thickness of 15 mm. That value belongs in finished-floor-level coordination, but it does not define the substrate, adhesive, installation method or complete floor build-up. Those layers and their technical suitability must be confirmed separately for the project.

Start with a dimensioned boundary, not a square-metre total

A procurement area is useful for quantity discussions, but it is not enough for pattern planning. The layout base should show the finished face of walls, columns, stairs, fixed joinery, door openings, thresholds and interfaces with other floor materials. These elements determine the visible field in which the repeat is actually read.

Mark uncertain dimensions clearly. A drawing that distinguishes verified site dimensions from design assumptions is more useful than a visually polished plan with hidden uncertainty.

Create a setting-out hierarchy

Use a short hierarchy so that one decision does not silently override another:

1. Primary axis: the line that governs centring or orientation, often related to an entrance, a room axis or a fixed architectural element.

2. Pattern direction: the orientation of the panel and the direction in which the motif develops.

3. Repeat grid: the actual catalogue width and length copied across the floor field.

4. Transition lines: thresholds and material changes that must meet the grid deliberately.

5. Perimeter review zones: remaining areas that need manufacturer or installer coordination rather than an assumed solution.

If two axes compete, state which has priority. Otherwise a floor can be centred to the room by one party and to the main doorway by another.

The table supports drawing setup; it does not prescribe room suitability. Furniture coverage, viewing distance, circulation and the amount of uninterrupted floor all affect how the same repeat is perceived.

Test pattern scale without relying on a product image

Place the repeat at true scale in the floor plan and include familiar references such as doors, fixed furniture and circulation widths. Review both the complete room and a cropped area at normal standing distance. A close-up product image can explain craft and colour, but it cannot show how many repeats remain visible after joinery and furniture occupy the room.

When is the layout ready for a quotation review?

It is ready when the manufacturer can identify the exact floor field, product repeat, governing axis, orientation, transitions, level information and unresolved edge conditions without guessing. A non-catalogue dimension or pattern may be evaluated as a custom request, but it is not considered available until that review is complete.
